For centuries, villagers living in the Himalayan Mountains have risked their lives to harvest the honey and beeswax of the Himalayan honeybee. The largest bee in Southeast Asia, its dangerous sting can blind or even kill. The bees build huge nests suspended under precipice hundreds of meters above the ground. With only a few simple tools and a great deal of courage, the harvesters cut down the nests while suspended precariously from woven bamboo ladders.
