The purity of "first love"...
What happens if a girl and a boy who have total opposite characters fall in love with each other?
Introduction :
The film is based on the best-selling manga "Kimi ni Todoke" (serialized in a monthly comic, Bessatsu Margaret) which has sold an unprecedented 14 million copies.
Despite being a SHUEISHA publication, "Kimi ni Todoke" was selected as the "Best Girls' Manga" in the 32nd KODANSHA (another Japanese publishing house) Manga Awards in 2008. And now the long-awaited film adaptation of "Kimi ni Todoke" finally comes to the big screen!
Exploring themes of first love, friendship, parent-child bonds and teacher-student relationships, "Kimi ni Todoke" will evoke warm feelings that you will want to share with the special person in your life.
Story :
Everyone is scared of Sawako Kuronuma. Her classmates call her "Sadako" for her resemblance to the character in the horror film "The Ring". But on the inside, she is nothing like that. She's a genuine, pure-hearted girl whose motto is "Do a good deed a day". Her tendency to shy away from people reinforces the misconception and Sawako finds herself isolated at school when in fact, she is desperate to make friends.
Sawako's classmate Shota is the complete opposite...Cheerful and friendly to everyone, Shota is the class idol. He's even nice to Sawako, who respects and secretly idolizes him. Watching Sawako do good deeds when no one is watching and impressed by her positive attitude, Shota begins to have special feelings for Sawako. But not wanting to lose herrespect, he decides to put his romantic feelings aside and just keep a protective eye over her.
But Shota's adorable childhood friend, Kurumi, approaches Sawako one day and confesses her feelings for him. "I really like him. Can you help me?"
With Christmas just around the corner, Sawako, Shota and Kurumi's feelings all converge...
