34-year-old Shingo Muraki (Masahiro Matsuoka) moves back to his hometown in the countryside to open "High School Restaurant". As soon as he starts his new job as a substitute teacher, he trains the cooking class students harshly. Although he's an excellent cook, he's inexperienced as a teacher. Through conflicts with students who have trouble finding their dreams, he learns the real meaning of what is "teaching" while teaching them about the severity and pleasure of being a cook. Together they find something that they can be passionate and work hard for.
This heartwarming drama series is based on a true story of the western countryside restaurant "Mago no Mise" (meaning "Grandchildren's Restaurant" in English), the only restaurant in Japan run by high school students for high school students.
