HIKARI (Ko Shibasaki) is the perfect housewife. Her entire life is dedicated to her husband, MASAZUMI (Noriyuki Higashiyama), a popular news anchor on a program called, "News Life." Every morning, Hikari readies Masazumi's breakfast the minute he sits down at the table, prepares his lunch, and shines his shoes to see him off to work. Not only does she take on her house chores impeccably and with a submissive smile, she watches her husband's show every night and leaves a message for him to read upon returning home. In short, Masazumi's success in his career and family life is without a doubt built upon Hikari's unconditional love and exceptional support for him. Hikari is just too good to be true that it is almost eerie. Despite their seemingly perfect marriage, people around the couple wonder why they have no children, why they sleep in separate bedrooms, and why they do not wear wedding bands. But indeed, the couple is only bound in a faux marriage with a contract that is renewed in signature every few years. Masazumi asks to be legally married, but Hikari refuses his request. Although their love is genuine, Hikari's reason for continuing their contractual marriage is beyond Masazumi's imagination and there is nothing perfect about it...
