We proudly announce that our latest animated feature title SUMMER WARS has been nominated for the International Competition section of the 62nd Locarno International Film Festival.

The title is directed by Mamoru Hosoda, whose previous title Girl Who Leapt Through Time was very well acclaimed worldwide, and received more than 20 awards in total including Special Distinction for Feature Films at Annecy International Animated Film Festival and the Gertie Award (Best Feature for Animation Section) at Sitges Film Festival.
Hosoda is also famous for his work for Louis Vuitton's SUPERFLAT MONOGRAM, collaborating with one of the most well-known Japanese designers Takashi Murakami.

While the festival will be held from August 5th through 15th, the international premiere of this title will take place on August 12th at Auditorium FEVI from 16:30pm. Hosoda and Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, character designer of the title, will be present.

<Synopsis>
In the near future, the creation of virtual city OZ has made it possible for everyone to access the Internet from anywhere and at anytime. Users control their avatars in OZ to shop, pay bills and have fun. Kenji spends his summer maintaining OZ, but happens to go with Natsuki, the girl of his dreams, to visit her hometown. On the first night, Kenji receives a strange math riddle from a mysterious sender. Kenji, a math whiz, tries to solve it, and when he finally finds the answer, the world has been totally changed. Kenji is set up as an OZ outlaw, and with Natsuki's family, he attempts to fix OZ to save the world!
