Nippon TV is collaborating with the United Nations Environment Program to deliver the PSAs. They include spots on air pollution, food waste, marine litter and waste, tailored to young audiences.
The Sorajiro costumed character participated in the video campaign for the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference, promoted by the World Meteorological Organization, making Nippon TV the first commercial television broadcaster in Japan to collaborate with the UN. The Sorajiro character also participated in the 2017 version of the campaign. In June of the same year, Sorajiro helped celebrate his 10th anniversary by appearing at the United Nations Environment Program's International Environmental Technology Centre in Osaka, Japan, to conduct events related to World Environment Day 2017.
