Bereaved kin of 1995 sarin attacks on Tokyo subway still battling Aum successor
Takahashi Shizue, whose husband was killed in the 1995 sarin nerve gas attack on the Tokyo subway, spoke at an event for bereaved families of victims held in Tokyo on March 15.
The 78-year-old widow looked back on the 30 years that have passed since the March 20 incident that shook Japan.
S/ Takahashi Shizue, Bereaved Family / People say it will fade from memory as 30 years have passed. Every time I hear a comment like that, I feel like countering it by saying so what? We victims and our lawyers are still in the midst of fighting Aum Shinrikyo's successor organization.
In March, the group now known as Aleph was slapped with the fifth corrective action order for not fully complying with its obligation to report to the Public Security Intelligence Agency under the organizational regulation law.
Takahashi and others have asked the Justice Ministry for cooperation in dealing with Aleph, which has not yet paid compensation for the victims.
