Emperor and Empress to possibly visit Mongolia in July
Nippon TV has learned that Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako are considering an official visit to Mongolia in July this year.
Discussions between Japan and Mongolia are underway, with an aim to have the Imperial couple to visit in July this year, according to sources.
The Emperor and Empress are likely to time their visit during the National Naadam Festival, which coincides with the anniversary of the 1921 People’s Revolution.
Emperor Naruhito last visited Mongolia in July 2007 when he was still Crown Prince.
He laid flowers at the cenotaph that houses the remains of around 2,000 Japanese who were interned and killed by the former Soviet Union after World War II.
This will be the third international goodwill visit by the Imperial couple since their accession to the throne, following Indonesia in 2023 and the UK in 2024.
