Crown Princess Kiko thinks of Prince Hisahito on her 58th birthday

Crown Princess Kiko of Akishino turned 58 on September 11.

On her birthday, she responded to questions from the imperial household press association in writing.

Princess Kiko expressed her feelings as a mother of Prince Hisahito, second in line to the Chrysanthemum throne, saying, “I am deeply moved by the fact that 18 years have passed since the birth of my first son, Hisahito.”

She hoped that Prince Hisahito will continue his duties as an adult member of the Imperial Family and gain experience.

And as he is preparing to go on to higher education next year, she said that her son will continue to pursue what he wants to study, and that he will continue to cherish his own interests.

As for herself, Princess Kiko said that she has not been feeling well at times over the past year, but that she has gradually recovered.

She said she would like to take good care of herself and try her best to fulfill her official duties.

Referring to some criticism on social media about the Akishino family, she mentioned that it has put her difficult to be at peace. However, she added that she is truly grateful that there are people who understand and care about her family.
