Prince Hisahito accepted to University of Tsukuba by recommendation
Prince Hisahito, the son of Crown Prince Fumihito and Crown Princess Kiko and second in line to the Chrysanthemum Throne, has been accepted to the University of Tsukuba by recommendation.
The announcement of the successful candidates selected for admission to the national university was made at 10 a.m. on December 11.
According to sources, Prince Hisahito was among those who passed and will enroll in the School of Life and Environmental Sciences next spring.
This is the first time following World War II that a male member of the Imperial Family with succession rights will attend a university other than Gakushuin University.
Currently, the Prince is a third-year student at the Senior High School at Otsuka, University of Tsukuba, and his choice of university has been the subject of much interest.
On November 28 and 29, the essay and interview exams for the school recommendation selection were held at the University of Tsukuba campus in Ibaraki Prefecture, where Prince Hisahito was seen entering the exam venue.
