Emperor Emeritus Akihito and Empress Emerita Michiko visited the “Karuizawakai Tennis Court” holding hands on August 27, the sixth day of their stay in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture.This place is a memorable place where the imperial couple met in 1957. The couple watched others playing tennis from the benches, and the Emperor Emeritus commented on how wonderful tennis was. Staying for about 30 minutes before departing, the Emperor Emeritus and Empress Emerita greeted those who were present. On this retreat which started on August 22, they visited the Ohinata Settlement on the 23rd, and plan to stay in Karuizawa until the 29th.
