Typhoons Jebi and Krathon approach Japan
SYNOPSIS: Typhoons Jebi and Krathon approach Japan from the south, which are expected to reach Japan from October 1 to 3, with a risk of strong winds and high waves.
Typhoon Jebi, known as Typhoon No. 17 in Japan, is moving northward at a speed of 35 km/h from east of Hachijojima Island, about 290 km south of metropolitan Tokyo.
It is expected to continue northward and is forecast to reach east of the Kanto region by the night of October 1, before moving eastward, away from Japan.
On October 1, maximum wind gusts of up to 30 meters per second are expected in the Kanto region and the Izu Islands.
Caution is necessary for strong winds and high waves, as wave heights could reach 5 meters, creating wet conditions.
Meanwhile, in the South China Sea, Typhoon Krathon (Typhoon No. 18), a large and extremely powerful storm, is expected to approach Okinawa between Thursday and Friday, bringing strong winds.
Winds in Okinawa are expected to gradually intensify, with some areas experiencing storm-force winds by October 3.
The public is urged to take strict precautions against violent winds and high waves.
