Bear eating deer sighted at hot springs resort in Hokkaido

 

 Witnesses sight a bear eating a deer on a mountain slope at the Sounkyo Onsen hot springs resort in Hokkaido, northern Japan.

Witnesses sighted a bear eating a deer on a mountain slope at the Sounkyo Onsen hot springs resort in the northernmost Japanese prefecture of Hokkaido on April 12.

 

Police are urging people to be careful as there are hotels and inns in the area where the scene was captured on video.

 

S/ Witness who took the video from a hotel / It happened across from where I parked my car, so I was afraid the bear might come down. The police came to the hotel, telling us to be careful because it's dangerous outside.

 

Police were alerted about the bear sighting by hotel staff at around 7 a.m. on April 12.

 

According to the police, the bear is about 1.5 meters long and is believed to be mature.

 

They recovered the deer carcass and warned people in the area that the bear might come back.
