LDP leader Ishiba mentions on general election on October 27, before becoming PM

 


S/ Ishiba Shigeru, president, Liberal Democratic Party: After being nominated as prime minister at the extraordinary Diet session to be convened on October 1, I will hold a general election for the House of Representatives on October 27 if all conditions are met. It is important for the new government to be judged by the people at an early date.

LDP President Ishiba officially inaugurated the new party's executive committee on September 30. Former Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide was appointed as Vice President in the new party executive appointments. And LDP Vice President Aso Taro was appointed as supreme advisor.

In addition, Moriyama Hiroshi was appointed as Secretary General, Onodera Itsunori as Policy Research Council Chairman, Suzuki Shunichi as Chairman of the General Affairs Committee, and Koizumi Shinjiro as Chairman of the Election Steering Committee.

As for cabinet posts, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi will remain in his current post while Iwaya Takeshi will be appointed minister of foreign affairs and Kato Katsunobu will be appointed minister of finance.

Fukuoka Takamaro will be appointed as health minister while Kozato Yasuhiro will be appointed as minister of agriculture and fisheries. And Muto Yuji will be appointed as minister of economy, trade and industry.

Ishiba is scheduled to inaugurate his new cabinet after being elected Prime Minister on October 1. After delivering his policy speech, he will deal with questions from the representatives of each party at the extraordinary session of the Diet. And he will dissolve the House of Representatives on October 9.

 

The general election for the House of Representatives will be announced on October 15 and a general election will be held on October 27.
