Japan's iconic Mt. Fuji dusts with season's first snowcap

Japan’s iconic Mt. Fuji was dusted with snow on the morning of November 7.

This marked the latest first snow on record in 130 years, and the news quickly became a trending topic on social media.

The Kofu meteorological observatory announced the season’s first snow on Fujisan at 7 a.m. on November 7, as snowfall was visually confirmed on the mountain.

This observation comes 36 days later than the average and 33 days later than last year.

The summit, seen from the Shizuoka side, was covered in a light white layer the previous day, but clouds obscured the view from the Yamanashi side, delaying the official announcement of the season’s snowcap.
