Princess Akiko to host Japanese radio show
Princess Akiko is set to host a Japanese radio show in April.
The princess, who is the granddaughter of Princess Yuriko who passed away in November 2024 at age 101, is the first female imperial family member to have earned a doctorate from the University of Oxford.
Her book about her experience at the University of Oxford has sold more than 300,000 copies.
According to Nippon Broadcasting System, she will be hosting a special episode of the company’s radio program “All Night Nippon” in April.
The program will be titled “Princess Akiko’s All Night Nippon Premium,” and she will speak about kabuki, Japanese art and other cultural topics together with guests including Kabuki actor Nakamura Kankuro.
She will also be answering questions and messages from the listeners.
Her father, Prince Tomohito of Mikasa, also hosted the same radio program 50 years ago.
