Noto Quake's death toll climbs to 282

The death toll from the Noto Peninsula Earthquake is expected to reach 282, exceeding that of the 2016 Kumamoto earthquakes.

The deaths of 22 people was acknowledged as “disaster-related death” on June 18, a term that describes deaths that are caused by disaster-induced fatigue and injuries.

30 disaster-related deaths had previously been confirmed in Ishikawa Prefecture, making the total figure now 52.

230 have been confirmed as deaths from direct causes such as house collapses.

The death toll from the Noto Quake now stands at 282, surpassing the 276 from the Kumamoto earthquakes.
