Princess Kako of Akishino, second daughter of Crown Prince Fumihito, attended on June 5 a children’s book award ceremony as her first official duty after returning from her official visit to Greece last week.

S/ Princess Kako: Reading books allows us to imagine various things, learn new things, and deepen our thinking. The experience of reading various books from early childhood throughout our lives becomes a valuable treasure.

The Sankei Children’s Book Award recognizes excellent works among children’s books published in the past year.

Nine works were selected from approximately 4,200 entries, and the Princess gave her impressions and remarks on all chosen works.
