Princess Kako visits Parthenon in Greece

S/ Takahashi Erena, Nippon TV Reporter / Princess Kako arrived in Greece after traveling for about 22 hours, and the first place she visited was the Parthenon, a World Heritage site.

The Japanese princess visited the former temple on May 26.

She was dressed in an outfit in the colors of the Greek flag.

The Parthenon was built on the Athenian Acropolis in the fifth century BC.

With stone pillars standing more than 10 meters tall, the structure is a symbol of ancient Greek civilization.

The temple has been undergoing restorations since the 19th century.

When told that each stone used for the repairs is numbered, Kako asked where the numbers are written.

Officials said the niece of Emperor Naruhito also appeared impressed upon hearing that there are new discoveries about the Parthenon in each restoration project.
