Visitors to Hiroshima's A-bomb museum surpass 80 million
The number of visitors to the 70-year-old Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum documenting the 1945 atomic bombing of the western Japanese city surpassed 80 million on March 16.

The 80 millionth visitor came from Tokyo with her family to see the museum.
The museum, which opened in 1955, has been in the spotlight in recent years as the 2023 Group of Seven Summit took place in Hiroshima and the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Nihon Hidankyo, a group of survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
The number of visitors during fiscal 2024 through the end of March topped 2 million for the first time in a fiscal year.
