Leaders confirm strengthening cooperation on minerals between Japan and Peru

Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru meets with Peruvian President Dina Boluarte on the sidelines of the APEC Leaders' Meeting in Peru and confirms the policy of strengthening cooperation as strategic partners. 

S/Ishiba Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan: Japan and Peru are strategic partners with shared values and principles, and we fully agreed not only to strengthen bilateral relations, but also to further deepen cooperation in regional affairs and international arenas. 

At the summit meeting on November 17, Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru and Peruvian President Dina Boluarte formulated a roadmap and confirmed their intention to strengthen cooperation in a wide range of areas over the next 10 years. 

Peru, with its abundant mineral resources, is positioned by Japan as an important source of resources in South America, and the two leaders intend to boost cooperation in order to strengthen the supply chain. 

They also confirmed the strengthening of cooperation with the Japanese community as Peru is home to the second largest population of Japanese descendants in Latin America. With this summit, Ishiba concluded his diplomatic schedule in Peru, which centered on the APEC Summit; next he is headed to the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
