Ohtani's hometown in Japan puts up MVP banners
In Otani Shohei's hometown of Oshu City, Iwate Prefecture, northeastern Japan, preparations were being made to congratulate him on his third MVP award on November 22.
At the entrance of a library, the staff had prepared...a banner.
The words congratulating Otani Shohei on his MVP award were written above the banner of the Dodgers' World Series championship.
Also, another unique display was updated.
S/ Reporter: This is a timeline reflecting Ohtani Shohei’s journey so far, and today marks another historic milestone.
The city’s Isawa Library is holding the third Ohtani chronology project.
The timeline runs about 43 meters long!
The paper which had already been posted at the end was removed to reveal that Ohtani has won the MVP award.
Books realted to Ohtani are also placed so that not only children but also adults can enjoy the exhibition.
Elsewhere in the city, banners were also hung outside the Oshu City Hall.
This is the fourth banner related to Otani.
Today was a special “Otani Day.
City officials wore their original cheering T-shirts and other items as they went about their work.
