National Police Agency tightens security after Trump rally shooting

Japan’s National Police Agency ordered police nationwide to increase security after a shooting occurred at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania on July 13.

Police throughout Japan were directed to use bulletproof equipment as necessary and thoroughly implement security at events like roadside speeches by politicians.

Safety procedures include the careful selection of speech location, baggage security checks, and securing an appropriate distance between speakers and the audience.

They were also instructed to strongly seek cooperation from event organizers.

Prime Minister Kishida said on social media, “We must firmly stand against violence that challenges democracy. I am praying for a speedy recovery for former President Trump.”
