Seven & i Holdings mulls buyout offer from Canadian convenience store chain

Seven & i Holdings announced on August 19 that it is considering a buyout offer from a major Canadian convenience store chain.

According to the announcement, the company that has made the acquisition proposal to 7-Eleven convenience store operator is Alimentation Couche-Tard.

Alimentation Couche-Tard operates approximately 17,000 stores, including convenience stores, across 31 countries worldwide, primarily in Canada.

In response to the buyout offer, Seven & i has established a special committee consisting solely of outside directors to carefully and swiftly evaluate the proposal.

If Seven & i accepts the buyout offer, it is expected that more than 5 trillion yen will be required for a complete acquisition.
