Yellow sand from continental Asia causes poor visibility in Japan
Seasonal yellow sand from continental Asia reached Japan on March 25, causing poor visibility in places like Tokyo and Osaka.
Visibility temporarily dropped to 8 kilometers in Osaka in western Japan.
On March 26, yellow dust was also observed around Mount Fuji, with visibility in Kofu, Yamanashi Prefecture, falling to 7 kilometers as of 11 a.m.
Other locations affected include Niigata and Fukui prefectures on the Sea of Japan side of central Japan.
Weather officials warned that transportation systems may be disrupted if visibility drops to under 5 kilometers.
Sand particles could also stick to laundry hung outside to dry.
The officials said yellow sand in Japan is expected to subside by March 27.
