Youth groups organize fireworks in quake and heavy rain affected city
A committee in Wajima, Ishikawa Prefecture organized fireworks in an effort to brighten up the city that experienced the 7.6 magnitude Noto Peninsula earthquake and torrential rainfall in 2024.
The committee is made up of volunteers from local youth groups among others.
The fireworks were lit up off the city’s coast on March 14 to coincide with Wajima junior high school’s graduation and carried messages of support from across the nation.
S/ Audience Member/ It was nice to see the fireworks since it’s been a while since we saw these sights that were taken for granted before the earthquake.
The fireworks were sent up with thoughts of requiem and hope for recovery.
Audience members cheered for each firework.
