Tom Yum Kung, classic Thai soup, registered as UNESCO intangible cultural heritage
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, or UNESCO, announces that it has registered Tom Yum Kung, a classic Thai soup, as an intangible cultural heritage.

Tom Yum Kung, also known as one of the world's three major soups, was registered as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO on December 4.
The spicy and sour shrimp soup is one of the representative dishes of Thailand.
S/ Thai woman: It is a basic dish that all Thais love.
S/ Thai woman: It has a uniquely Thai flavor, and it is delicious.
UNESCO said the reason for registering the dish is that it embodies the “traditional knowledge of local environment and resources”.
