Emperor Emeritus and Empress Emerita attend Japanese composer's 100th anniversary concert
Emperor Emeritus Akihito and Empress Emerita Michiko attended on May 4 the 100th anniversary concert held in Tokyo, commemorating the birth of renowned Japanese composer Dan Ikuma.
The imperial couple waved and smiled to the people along the way and entered a hall in Chiyoda Ward.
Dan is widely known for works such as the opera “Yuzuru,” the children’s song “Zosan,” and the radio calisthenics No. 2.
At the commemorative concert, compositions such as the grand march “Celebration” were performed, which was composed to celebrate the marriage of the Imperial Couple.
After the performance, the imperial couple responded to the applause from the audience by waving and smiling.
