Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko spoke to reporters on November 25 before their official trip to Turkey marking the 100th anniversary of Japan-Turkey ties. 

Crown Prince Akishino / I am very delighted to be able to visit a country that has a good bilateral relation with Japan. 

The crown prince mentioned how the two countries supported each other during earthquakes.
He said he hopes the trip will contribute to deepening mutual understanding.

Crown Princess Kiko, who is learning about Turkey’s traditional needle-lace edging Oya with her peers, wore an Oya brooch during the news conference.

The two are set to visit Ankara and Istanbul in Turkey from December 3 until December 8.
