Imperial Palace opens street for public to enjoy fall scenery

The Imperial Palace opened Inui Street on November 30 for the general public to enjoy the autumn scenery on palace grounds.

Roughly 200 visitors lined up by 9AM to enter palace grounds on the first day of opening to the public.

The opening of Inui street began in 2014 to commemorate the 80th birthday of then Emperor Akihito.

Inuit Street is open twice a year during the spring sakura blossom season and autumn leaves season.

The tree-lined street that is roughly 750 meters long was crowded with visitors who saw the changing colors of maple leaves and a different side of the palace.

Inui Street is open to the public until December 8. Prior reservation is not required.
