Japanese emperor and empress arrive in UK
Japan's Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako arrived in Britain on June 22.
They landed at Stansted Airport on the outskirts of London in the evening after their roughly 15-hour flight from Japan.
This is the imperial couple's first trip to the United Kingdom in 21 months.
Their previous visit was to attend the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
They took a car made available to them by King Charles to their hotel in central London.
Naruhito is the third Japanese emperor to make an official visit to Britain following his father Emperor Emeritus Akihito and grandfather Emperor Hirohito.
The emperor and empress are scheduled to take part in official activities including a welcome ceremony and banquet by King Charles and Queen Camilla on June 25.
