Winter lights illuminate dam in north of Tokyo

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism is lighting up Yamba Dam in Gunma Prefecture in central Japan as a winter treat.

The dam that was completed 5 years ago started its evening illumination on January 10.

The lighting event is being held for the first time in an effort to attract tourists during the slow winter season.

The evening lighting will run from sunset to 7:30PM until January 19. Officials ask that visitors dress warmly as temperatures remain low.
