Yokohama Ropeway celebrates 5 millionth passenger
Yokohama Air Cabin, Japan’s first urban ropeway, celebrated its 5 millionth passenger on July 24th.
Second-grader Hirano Yuma and his mother Ayae were in the city south of Tokyo to visit a local zoo.
Hirano Ayae / We had to drink water so we let a passenger cut in front of us. That’s how we became the 5 millionth passenger, so we were really lucky.
The gondola lift, which opened in April 2021, travels about 600 meters in five minutes. It connects JR Sakuragi Station and the the popular waterfront Yokohama Minatomirai.
The operator said it will continue to strive for safe operation and service improvement.
