Ishiba seeks to further promote Japan-US cooperation in AI field
S/ Ishiba Shigeru, Japanese Prime Minister / I will strive to further deepen cooperation between Japan and the United States in the field of AI and make the world more peaceful, prosperous and safe.
Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru made the remarks in his meeting with SoftBank Group CEO Son Masayoshi and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
They held talks at the prime minister's office in Tokyo on February 3.
Officials said Ishiba asked Son and Altman for their thoughts on how to actively utilize AI, and the guests offered their advice.
Ishiba is hoping to gain hints from Son, who has already met with US President Donald Trump, on ways to deepen bilateral cooperation during summit talks scheduled on February 7 in Washington.
Son and Altman met with Trump on January 21, a day after the US leader was sworn in for his second term, to announce an AI infrastructure project also involving Oracle.
