Foxconn mulls potential takeover bid of Nissan Motor

According to sources, Honda Motor and Nissan Motor will begin talks on business integration as early as December 23.

Honda and Nissan began discussing cooperation in the development of electric vehicles in March this year and announced in August that Mitsubishi Motors would join them.

The move is believed to be a hasty management reform in response to Nissan's deteriorating business performance.

Interviews with Hon Hai Group executives revealed Taiwan's Hon Hai Precision Industry, which is better known as Foxconn, is also considering a takeover bid for Nissan.

The acquisition was proposed by Nissan's former deputy chief operating officer, who is now in charge of Hon Hai's electric vehicle business and is intended to bring Nissan's EV and AI businesses under its umbrella.

Hon Hai’s move is also believed to have pushed Nissan and Honda towards a business merger.
