Climbing routes open on Shizuoka Prefecture side of Mount Fuji

The climbing routes opened on July 10 on the Shizuoka Prefecture side of Mount Fuji.

At 9 a.m., barricades that were installed during the winter were removed at the 6th station of Mount Fuji’s Fujinomiya Trail.

S/ Official from the Fuji Civil Engineering Office: We are lifting the closure of Mount Fuji’s Fujinomiya Trail during the winter.

All three climbing routes on the Shizuoka Prefecture side -Subashiri, Gotemba, and Fujinomiya – are fully open to the summit without any remaining snow hindrances.

S/ Climber: It’s disappointing that the weather is bad, and it seems unlikely for me to see sunrise. I would like to make a wish with all my heart.

Starting this year, Shizuoka Prefecture has introduced the Mount Fuji climbing pre-registration system.

Climbers are required to register in advance, providing details such as their climbing route and accommodation reservations.

They are also encouraged to learn about rules and etiquette through instructional video.

The climbing season for Mount Fuji extends until September 10.
