Capybaras enjoy yuzu bath during winter solstice
Capybaras at Izu Shaboten Zoo in Shizuoka Prefecture central Japan enjoyed a yuzu bath during the winter solstice on December 21.
The outdoor bath provided for the capybaras is a winter tradition that began at the zoo in 1982.
Roughly 7 kilograms of locally grown yuzu were added to the bath as part of a Japanese custom where people aim to fight off the cold with a yuzu bath.
S/ Tourist/ They are very cute. We were looking for this for a long time already. We just drove around 2 hours to come to visit them.
The yuzu bath will be held for the capybaras every day until January 5, 2025.
