Prince Hisahito visits imperial graveyard to report high school graduation

Prince Hisahito visited the musashi imperial graveyard on March 20 to pay his respects to Emperor Hirohito.

The eldest son of Crown Prince Fumihito and Crown Princess Kiko, Prince Hisahito was dressed in a suit on his visit to report his graduation from high school.

It is customary for Imperial Family members to visit the imperial graveyard site on milestones such as school graduations or international diplomatic visits.

The Prince bowed quietly in reverence and offered a tamagushi (a traditional offering) before reporting his graduation from high school on March 18.

Following this, Prince Hisahito also paid his respects to Empress Nagako at the east mausoleum.

This is the first time that the Prince has visited the imperial graveyard since his first visit alone to report his graduation from junior high school in 2022.

He will begin attending classes in April at the University of Tsukuba in the College of Biological Sciences.
