Actress Hirosue released from police detention over alleged assault
Actress Hirosue Ryoko was released from police detention on April 16, eight days after being arrested for allegedly assaulting and injuring a hospital nurse in Shizuoka Prefecture, central Japan.
She emerged from a police station in the city of Hamamatsu at about 6:20 a.m. and bowed in front of reporters.
Hirosue was arrested on April 8 after allegedly kicking and scratching a nurse at a hospital in Shimada city, where she was taken for treatment after rear-ending a trailer truck on an expressway.
Prosecutors said they are still considering whether to indict her and will continue investigations.
They have not said why they released her, but investigative sources suggest she and the nurse appear to have reached an out-of-court settlement.
Her management agency issued a statement, apologizing for causing trouble and confusion to the victim and many others.
