US President-elect Donald Trump / I’d love to see the prime minister and we will do that. I have great respect for the position.

US President-elect Donald Trump said on December 16 that he could meet Japan’s Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru before the president’s inauguration on January 20.

He said that he respects the Japanese prime minister, and considers Japan very important.

He also said that he gifted a book to Ishiba through Abe Akie, the widow of late Japanese prime minister Abe Shinzo.

Trump also announced he tapped businessman George Glass as the next ambassador to Japan.

He was a major contributor to Trump and financially supported his presidential campaign.

"As a former President of an Investment Bank, George will bring his business acumen to the Ambassador's position.” ”He will always PUT AMERICA FIRST,” the US President-elect said in a statement.

Trump said that Glass is a highly respected man and that he did a great job as ambassador to Portugal.
