Edo Castle to revive by projection mapping

A crowd of people flocked to the outer moat of Edo Castle on the night of May 30.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government began projecting images based on Utagawa Hiroshige’s Ukiyo-e “One Hundred Famous Views of Edo” onto the moat.

Blue-green algae has been growing on the surface of the water in the outer moat and the water quality has been deteriorating.

With this in mind, the metropolitan government is promoting the outer moat purification project and aims to raise awareness of this initiative.

The projection mapping will be shown every day from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. until June 2. According to the metropolitan government, this project is expected to cost approximately 22 million yen, including equipment and security costs.
