PM Kishida meets with Team Japan Olympic medalists
Medalists from the Japanese Delegation to the Paris Olympics met with Prime Minister Kishida Fumio on the evening of August 13.
66 of the 70 medalists from Team Japan met Kishida at the Prime Minister’s Office after the games, which held its closing ceremony on August 12.
Abe Hifumi, Gold Medalist, Judo: Under the concept of "The courage to take a step forward to greater heights”, Team Japan took on the challenge with a sense of unity in all the events, not just individual events, and I tried to give our best performance. I will continue to contribute to the promotion of the Olympic movement with pride as an Olympian and medalist.
Prime Minister Kishida Fumio: I sincerely thank you all for the wonderful energy and courage you have given to all the people of Japan. I would like to congratulate you from the bottom of my heart and express my sincere respect.
Prime Minister Kishida shook hands with each of the medalists and praised them for their good work.
