Panasonic Holdings announced on January 7 that it will team up with OpenAI’s rival Anthropic to launch an AI service in the United States.

Their generative AI service Umi is designed to support family communication. It can suggest activities the whole family can engage in, or menus the family can enjoy based on an individual's preferences.

S/Yoky Matsuoka, Panasonic Well CEO / How many family members are there? How old are you? What do you like or dislike? You can have these conversations with Umi and it will learn. It can even say, “Hey, your son’s birthday is coming up, how about this,” or something like that. 

Various products featuring the newest AI technologies are gaining attention at CES 2025, which will be held until January 10.
