  I cannot suppress my deep sorrow. I offer my heartfelt condolences.  

　We have strongly demanded an explanation from the Chinese side regarding the facts, as well as ensuring the safety of Japanese citizens.

　It is truly regrettable that a despicable act was committed against a child on his way to school.

Foreign Minister Kamikawa said on September 19 that she takes the matter extremely seriously and made it clear that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will consider measures to prevent a recurrence.
