Nihon Hidankyo reports at Hiroshima A-bomb memorial
S/ Mimaki Toshiyuki, co-chair of Nihon Hidankyo: We will not give up on the abolition of nuclear weapons.
Mimaki Toshiyuki, co-chair of Nihon Hidankyo, also known as the Japan Confederation of A-Bomb and H-Bomb Sufferers Organizations, visited Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park on October 13 following the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize on October 11.
He observed a moment of silence at the cenotaph for the atomic bomb victims and reported the awarding to the late representative Tsuboi Sunao and others, who died while working for the abolition of nuclear weapons.
S/ Mimaki Toshiyuki, co-chair of Nihon Hidankyo: 12,000 nuclear weapons still exist in the world, and we cannot abandon the pursuit of a nuclear-free world.
It will be a difficult journey, but we must continue to call for the abolition of nuclear weapons.
The award ceremony will take place in December in Oslo, Norway.
