Quake-hit pianos restored with kids' artwork unveiled in Ishikawa

Two pianos, recovered after the powerful Noto Peninsula earthquake struck Ishikawa Prefecture and its vicinity early this year, were unveiled on August 30.The upright pianos were taken out of damaged homes in the city of Suzu and transported to the prefectural capital of Kanazawa.Local children painted artwork on them based on the theme of "road."A woman who runs a music class in Suzu and another who gives English lessons in the same city planned the project. They wanted to turn the musical instrument into symbols that remind people of the quake that shook central Japan on New Year's Day.Pop pianist and YouTube personality Harami-chan made a surprise appearance at the event.

One of the pianos will be placed at a bookstore in Suzu, while the other will be moved to an art studio in Kanazawa.
