Plum blossoms color Tokyo shrine popular with exam students
The plum blossom festival at Tokyo’s Yushima Shrine, known for its academic deity, has peaked as entrance exam students and tourists make their visit.
Yushima Shrine is located near the University of Tokyo, one of Japan’s top universities.
The shrine boasts around 300 plum trees of 17 varieties that have made it a famous spot for plum blossoms since the Edo Period.
The blooms are roughly 10 days later than average due to the recent cold front but have now reached their peak.
Visitors were seen enjoying the shrine’s blossoms as temperatures were considerably warmer.
The plum blossom festival with its various stalls runs until March 8.
