Japan's lower house dissolved
Japan's Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru dissolved the House of Representatives on October 9, just eight days after taking office.
Nukaga Fukushiro, Speaker of House of Representatives: The House of Representatives is dissolved in accordance with Article 7 of the Constitution of Japan.

The dissolution of the lower house within eight days of assuming the Prime Minister Office is the shortest turn around in Japan since the end of World War II.
A general election will be announced on October 15 with voting scheduled for October 27.
This election campaign will be an ultra-short battle.
Prime Minister Ishiba regards it as an election to choose the government.
