Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Nihon Hidankyo holds press conference
S/ Tanaka Terumi, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate/Nihon Hidankyo Co-Chair: I hope they will consider what they should do from now on to abolish nuclear weapons. I hope this will serve as a catalyst for a major movement in Europe as well.
Co-chair Tanaka of Nihon Hidankyo, an organization of Hibakusha, held a press conference before heading for the ceremony and expressed hope that winning the Nobel Peace Prize would spur momentum for the movement to abolish nuclear weapons.
He also urged people in Europe to understand the devastating realities of nuclear weapons.
The delegation of the Japan Confederation of A- and H-Bomb Sufferers Organizations will leave for Oslo, Norway, where the award ceremony will be held on December 8.
Tanaka is scheduled to deliver a speech at the award ceremony.
