Emperor Naruhito met with Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg at the Imperial Palace on June 10 for the first time in 10 years.

The emperor attended Prince Guillaume’s wedding in 2012 and met with the him when he came to Japan in 2014.

Emperor Naruhito commented on the birth of Prince Guillaume’s second son and the household becoming livelier.

After conversing for 20 minutes, Emperor Naruhito and Prince Guillaume moved to a private room where Empress Masako and Princess Aiko joined them.

Prince Guillaume invited the emperor to Luxembourg to mark 100 years of diplomacy between the two nations in 2027.

Prince Guillaume later met with Crown Prince Fumihito and his family for dinner at the Akishino residence.
